Hello!

Recently we have been working on our final line plans, which I have posted pictures of below. A line plan is a quick view of all of the looks in a particular capsule, and provides other information such as the season, style, and collection name. The second component of the line plan includes a concept board as well as a color and fabric story.

Last class we took a field trip to The Children's Factory. We were able to tour the working environment and learn more about the pattern making program, Gerber. We were also able to watch how computerized patterns are converted onto a mechanical cutting table that cuts your fabric in seconds! Overall, our trip was a awesome learning experience!

This week we started working on tech packs which display full details about each piece.

What defines something as fashionable or trendy? Is there a list of trendy clothing or a rule book of what is acceptable or not in the world of fashion?

I believe that everyone has a different definition of fashion and a different view of what they call trendy or fashionable. I think that this is what makes the world of fashion truly interesting. To think that a shirt could be so loved by one person and another person would merely throw the same shirt in the trash and move on. That's why I have devoted this post to interesting views and styles of fashion. Enjoy :)

Stay true to who you are and you will always stay fashionable.

I think I can be inspired by almost anything, whether it is a beautiful dress by Elie Saab or a patch of grass. I have covered an entire wall with things that inspire me and I still find things everyday that inspire me. So here are some things that have inspired me today. :)

Fashion Do's and Fashion Don'ts

Sorry I haven't posted in a few weeks, but I have been out of town.

So, this week I'm going to talk about the three biggest Fashion Do's and Don'ts.

1. Dress for the weather. This is important, if it is 30 degrees outside you should wear a coat! If it is 90 degrees outside, don't wear a coat! Now, this may seem obvious, but people commit this fashion crime without knowing it. Have you ever seen someone wearing Uggs in the summer? That is a fashion crime!!!!!

2. You know, there is something known as matching too much. It is good for your outfit not to clash with itself, but there is a stage of taking it too far. Like it you had a printed shirt, which matched the print one your pants, which matched the print on your shoes. Your shirt and pants shouldn't be the same print. Also your shirt and shoes shouldn't be the same print. Your purse shouldn't be the same as anything in your outfit.

3. Accessories, accessories, accessories! This can make or break your outfit. Adding jewelry, belt, or jacket to any outfit can add that spark to make your outfit go from 'ok' to 'awesome!' BUT this comes with a warning. Don't overdo it. If you add too many accessories your outfit can look crowded and lose its simplicity. On the other hand, if your outfit is really simple, adding accesssories can make your outfit awesome. Also, you don't always have to have a belt or jacket or jewelry, sometimes with your outfit simplicity is the best way to go. You have to ask yourself, 'Is my outfit boring? Or is it simple?'

REMEMBER!! The best thing to do if your not sure with ANY outfit, is to ask someone you trust for advice! 'Hey, what do you think about my outfit??' That simple phrase can prevent you from many fashion crimes. And if someone ever asks you that, tell them the TRUTH!! You're helping them in the long run.

Look and Learn from these fashion DON'TS!!!!

I hope that these tips are helpful!!! Thanks for reading!!

Zac Posen

Zac Posen's designs are very unique and truly modern. He uses interesting fabrics and couples them with modern designs.

Zac was born and raised in Manhattan, where he developed a love for fashion at a very early age. His love for fashion only grew from there, at age 16 he attended a pre-college program at Parsons, and by the age of 18 he was attending the University of Arts in London. Zac's fashion career grew from there where he started his own line, and won many fashion awards.

I really admire Zac's ability to create truly modern clothes! Thanks for reading!!!!

Oscar de la Renta

This week my blog is about fashion designer Oscar de la Renta. Oscar is my favorite designer of all time. He creates beautiful clothes that have modern style.

Oscar de la Renta is known as one of the best fashion designers in the world. He has won many awards, and his clothes have been worn by many people.

Oscar was born in the Dominican Republic, and he uses influences from his childhood to inspire his clothes today. He became interested in fashion at the age of 18, and his love of fashion only grew from there. By the 1960s Oscar had traveled to Paris to learn more about fashion as he worked as an assistant under Antonio Castillo. Oscar then came to the US and got going with his own line. Once his line got going he didn't forget about where he came from, and he went back to the Dominican Republic and built an orphanage.

Today Oscar has expanded his fashion line from couture to ready-to wear collections, accessories, perfume, eye wear, and even furniture.
